The Proa Manuscript Book takes its name from the distinctive shape of its clasp, which echoes that of traditional South Pacific proa vessels. These multi-hull ships were first documented by Magellan's expedition in what became the first voyage around the world. They have since featured in the journals of generations of travellers.
